A edição do Nos Primavera Sound 2019 aconteceu de 6 a 8 de Junho, no Parque da Cidade do Porto, e foi talvez a edição (8ª) com o cartaz mais eclético – ou quem sabe o mais arriscado – de sempre.
Músicos e influências oriundos de todo o mundo, desde R&B dos EUA, pop britânico, reggaeton colombiano, jazz, eletrônica da Coreia do Sul, até ao flamenco pop de Espanha, ritmos brasileiros e cabo-verdianos, numa edição que quase deu a volta ao mundo, e que deixou os fiéis adeptos da linhagem mais dura e pura inicial que caracterizava o festival (linhagem pop e rock mais indie) um pouquinho desapontados.

Na minha singela opinião, e esquecendo o frio que se fez sentir (mais parecia que estávamos no inverno) o Nos Primavera Sound continua a fazer as honras de um Porto enaltecido, Porto que recebe com condições únicas e numa atmosfera única este excelente festival.

Edition Nos Primavera Sound 2019 took place from 6- 8 June, at we could say it was probably the edition (the 8th) with the most eclectic – or maybe the most risky – line up ever,
Music and influences coming from all over the world, from R&B from the USA, british pop, regaton from colombia, jazz, electronics from south corea, till the pop flamenco from Spain, brazilian and cape verde rhythms, in an edition that almost travelled the world, letting fans from the initial line up (more like pop and indie rock) a little bit disappointed.

Being sincere, and forgetting the extreme cold there was (it seemed it was wintertime!) Nos Primavera Sound is still that festival that honours Porto, a city that welcomes this excellent festival with singular conditions and atmosphere.

Para além do cartaz diversificado e a fugir um pouco à linhagem habitual, que levou a algumas contestações, a edição do Nos Primavera Sound 2019 contou também com alguns precalços: 3 concertos cancelados à última da hora, um primeiro dia com a chegada da depressão Miguel (vento forte e chuva, mas que praticamente só se fez sentir antes da abertura das portas) e um frio cortante durante os três dias do festival.

5 palcos,

Fora isso, continua a ser um festival com uma programação para vários gostos, dividido por 5 palcos, um festival onde se respira natureza, onde se respira boa organização, onde se vê uma enorme diversidade de público e de nacionalidades, gente bonita e alternativa, e onde passear pelo recinto e de palco para palco se faz com um prazer desmedido envolto numa energia única que só o Parque da Cidade do Porto ( o Parque mais bonito do mundo!) consegue transmitir.

Besides the diversified line up that was a little bit away from the normal line up, which led to some contest, this edition of Nos Primavera Sound 2019 had also some struggles: 3 concerts were cancelled at last minute, the first day counted with a weather depression (strong winds and rain, which however almost happened before the doors of the festival opened), and a severe cold during the three days of the festival.

5 stages,

Apart from that, it is still a festival for a diversified public, divided in 5 stages, and a festival where we can breath nature, where we can breath the good organisation, where we can see diversified public and people from different nationalities, beautiful people, alternative people, and where walking around the place and going from one stage to the other is done with an extreme pleasure and surrounded by a unique energy that only Porto’s city park (the most beautiful park in the world!) is able to give us.

1.º dia

Um primeiro dia que antevia um verdadeiro dilúvio (às quatro da tarde a depressão Miguel fazia-se sentir em força, com ventos fortes e chuvas torrenciais) mas que mais não passou de um susto.
A chuva diluiu-se a partir da abertura de portas ( que foi adiada por uma hora, abrindo perto das 17h), o sol deu ares da sua graça e o recinto foi brindado com a magia de um arco-íris.

A nível musical, Jarvis Cocker no Palco Seat foi a estrela do dia, e Solange, que tocava em horário nobre (22h) e no Palco principal, uma certa desilusão (para mim…)

first Day

A first day that predicted a complete tempest (at 4pm the Miguel Depression was there with all its strength, with strong winds and heavy rain) but everything went by quickly.
Rain was over as soon as doors were open (the opening was one hour retarded), the sun came back and the place was honoured with the magic of a rainbow.

Speaking about the concerts, Jarvis Cocker at Seat Stage was the star of the day, and Solange, acting at noble time (10pm) and at the main stage, a certain disillusion (for me of course).

2.º dia

O segundo dia foi inevitavelmente o dia do reggaeton, com J Balvin, músico colombiano, a tocar no Palco Nos, que estava cheio.
Inevitavelmente também o nome que mais críticas sofreu por fazer parte deste festival, que supostamente é um festival mais alternativo….

para mim, Interpol, no Palco Seat, foi o highlight deste segundo dia.

second day 

Second day was inevitable the reggaeton day, with J Balvin, from Colombia, playing at the main stage, Nos Stage, which was full.
It was also inevitable the name that suffered more critics as being part of this festival, due to the alternative connection to this festival.

Interpol, at Seat stage, were for me highlight of the second day,

3.º dia
O dia com mais público, e onde nos palcos brilharam as presenças femininas: Rosalía, Neneh Cherry, Erykah Badu, Nina Kraviz.
Erykah Badu fez o público esperar mais de meia hora, já noite cerrada (1h da manhã) e envolta num frio de rachar – mas a sua actuação revelou-se poderosa e magistral.
Vibrei uma hora antes com Neneh Cherry no Palco Pull and Bear que me fez voltar a bons velhos tempos ao som de  “Seconds”, e dou o braço a torcer que Rosalía (que eu desconhecia!!) é um verdadeiro portento em palco, não deixando ninguém indiferente, quer se goste do género, ou não.

Horas antes, ainda com luz do dia, e no Palco principal – o palco Nos – o brasileiro Jorge Ben Jor levou o recinto  – cheio – a um apogeu dançante.

third day
The day that had the most public, and where on stage the feminine presence was shining: Rosalía, Neneh Cherry, Erykah Badu, Nina Kraviz.
Erykah Badu made the public wait for her more than half an hour, already late at night (1am) and it was really cold – but after she started I surrendered to her performance and voice – which was powerful.

I really liked Neneh Cherry at Pull & Bear Stage, which made me go back in time with “Seconds”, and I must admit that Rosalía (whom I did not know!!) is a great performer and singer on stage, and no one could be indifferent to her, weather you like the kind of music, or not.

Some hours before, still below daylight and at the main stage –  Nos stage – the brazilian Jorge Ben Jor took the public to a dancing highlight.

3 dias intensos

Foram três dias intensos, repletos de música e de novas descobertas, e com a sensação de que nunca se consegue ver ou ouvir tudo….
Três dias intensos que chegam ao fim com um cansaço bom e com a certeza de que para o ano, queremos voltar.

No regresso a casa, e a pedalar na minha bicicleta, constato sempre que este é e continua a ser um festival que me deixa feliz 🙂

3 intense days

Three intense days they were, full of music and of new discoveries, and with the feeling that we could not absorve everything.
Three intense days that come to the end  and we are tired, but knowing next year we want to be back again.

On the way back home riding my bike, I always affirm that this is a festival that still makes me happy 🙂

Não dá para comparar esta edição 2019 com a edição do ano anterior, em que Nick Cave tocou de baixo de chuva torrencial e ninguém arredou pé, mas Nick Cave é de outra estratosfera, com uma carga emocional e uma voz que enche o céu.

Para a próxima edição do Nos Primavera Sound gostaria muito de ter tempo quente (eu sei que é condição alheia à organização) e um cartaz com vozes que façam sonhar e dançar!
Aguardemos então, a contar os dias, pelo Nos Primavera Sound 2020!

It’s impossible to compare this edition 2019  to last years edition, with Nick Cave acting under heavy rain and no-one left, but Nick Cave belongs to another stratosphere, with an emotional weight and voice that reaches and fills the sky.

Next edition of Nos Primavera Sound  I would love to have warmer weather, (I know it+s a condition that does not depend on the organisation) and a line up with voices that would make me dream and dance.
So we will be waiting, counting the days, for Nos Primavera Sound 2020!.
