Da Polónia para o Porto e para aprender a dançar….kizomba! 🙂 Ninguém diria mas é verdade. Leia tudo neste ‘Living in Porto’ de hoje.
Mario Dansero (Marius Glodek, verdadeiro nome) , polaco, é apaixonado por dança e veio atrás dos seus grandes ídolos, um casal de portugueses que tem feito um enorme trabalho na divulgação e ensino de kizomba e das danças sociais.
E cada vez mais o Porto se assume como uma cidade internacional e cosmopolita, onde encontrar estrangeiros a morar por cá já é mais do que habitual.  Fique a saber um pouco o que quem cá chega de fora acha de nós…/

Mario Dansero (Marius Glodek, real name) is from Poland, is passionate for dancing, and came to chase his idols, a portuguese couple who has been doing a great job in spreading and teaching kizomba and social dancing.
And more and more our city is assumingly an international city, where we can more and more find foreign people living in Porto. Read the interviews and get to know what people who arrive here think of us…

Então vieste para o Porto para aprender kizomba?

Sim! 🙂 Há muita gente que não sabe, mas o Porto pode ser considerado uma das capitais da kizomba. E eu adoro este tipo de dança social.
Como seguia o trabalho do Ricardo Sousa & Paula Loureiro, (fora do Porto todos os conhecem!) pensei em arriscar e vir para cá aprender com eles.
Arrisquei também em candidatar-mea um emprego na escola deles e consegui, por isso fiquei pelo Porto. 🙂

Quer dizer que também já podemos ter aulas de kizomba contigo?

Verdade, agora também já estou a dar aulas, não só de kizomba, mas também de salsa e de bachata (tudo danças sociais). Quem quiser pode ir experimentar uma aula comigo no ALC Dance Studios (em Gaia ou na Trindade) e a primeira aula é gratuita. Qualquer pessoa é bem vinda.

Muito rapidamente, qual a diferença entre salsa, bachata e kizomba?

Salsa é uma dança originária de Cuba e é mais para nos divertirmos.
A Kizomba é originária de Angola, e neste tipo de dança há uma conexão mais íntima e mais romântica entre o par. É bom também para meditar…
Já a bachata é originária da República Dominicana, e é uma dança mais sensual, onde se acentua o flirt entre o homem e a mulher.
Todos os estilos são bonitos e essencialmente são danças de improviso.

So you came to Porto to learn Kizomba?

Yes 🙂 There are a lot of people who doesn´t know, but we almost can say Porto is the capital of Kizomba. And I really love this type of social dancing.
As I was following the work of Ricardo Sousa & Paula Loureiro (outside Portugal everyone knows them!) , I thought of taking the risk and come to learn with them.
Then I also took the risk to apply for a job in their school, and I got the job, so I am staying in Porto 🙂

So now we can also have classes of kizomba with you, if we want?

True. Not also kizomba, but also salsa and bachata. Social Dances. And everyone can try one of the classes at ALC dance studios, (in Gaia or Trindade) and the first class is free. Everyone is welcome.

Very concise, what is the difference between salsa, bachata and kizomba?

Salsa is origin from Cuba, and it’s about fun dancing.
Kizomba has its origin in Angola, and here its about a deep connection between the couple, it is more romantic, man dances close to the ladie.
Bachata comes from Dominican Republique and it is more sensual, it’s about flirting.
All styles are very beautiful, we can say social dancing is about improvisation.

O que achas da cidade do Porto? Qual foi a primeira impressão da cidade?

Estou no Porto desde Julho de 2017. A primeira impressão é de que é uma cidade muito bonita, e onde se come muito bem 🙂
A comida é muito boa, saborosa, e isso faz-me lembrar da Polónia. Também adoro o vinho do Porto e o facto de haver muitos cafés, é uma cidade com muita vida.

E está a ser fácil a adaptação? É uma cidade fácil para um estrangeiro viver?

Está a ser um bocadinho mais complicado do que pensávamos 🙂
Felizmente conseguimos (eu e a minha namorada) o emprego na escola de dança como professores de dança, mas o dinheiro ainda é pouco, precisamos de conseguir mais trabalho.
Mas quando a parte profissional estabilizar, tenho a certeza de que vai ser muito bom.
As pessoas são muito simpáticas e abertas, e querem sempre ajudar, isso é fantástico, eu nunca em lado nenhum tinha experienciado isso (antes de vir para Portugal estive na Noruega e não era nada assim…)

What do you think of Porto? What was your first impression of the city?

I am in Porto since July 2017. The first impression is that it is a beautiful city, and where we can eat very well. 🙂
Food is very good here, very tasty, and that reminds me of Poland. I also love port wine and the fact that there are a lot of cafes in the city, it gives real life.

And how is it after the first impact, how are you adapting? Is it an easy city for an expat to live?

Well, it is been more complicated than we were thinking. 🙂
Fortunately we (me and my girlfriend) could get the job at the dance studio, but we will need to find more work.
I really hope that when the professional part will be ok, then life here will be great.
People here are really nice, and are always willing to help, that is fantastic. I had never experienced that any place else before ( before I came to Porto I wa living in Norway, and that was nothing like here at all…)

Vejo que dás muita importância à forma de vestir. Os homens portugueses vestem-se bem?

É verdade, gosto de me vestir bem e de ter em atenção os acessórios – lenços, sapatos, chapéu….:)
Mas acho que sim, os homens portugueses em geral vestem-se bem, pelo menos no centro da cidade vejo alguns que se vestem muito bem, que se preocupam com a aparência e estilo.

Podes dizer dois locais no Porto onde gostes particularmente de ir?

Apesar de não ser mesmo no Porto, tenho de mencionar as praias, especialmente as praias de Gaia, como a Praia da Madalena, Valadares e por aí…Eu sou fã de praia…
E em segundo lugar a Estação de S. Bento – é mesmo impressionante de bonita, e revela muito de Portugal, com os seus azulejos, e a sua arquitectura.

Do que mais sentes falta, cá no Porto?

Dos meus amigos, claro, e de encontrar locais para socializar fora do ambiente da dança, ainda não encontrei esse conforto. Às vezes custa um bocadinho….

I see you care a lot about your image, and the way you dress. Do you think portuguese men dress well?

It’s true, I care about my look, specially about some accessories, like shoes, scarfs, hats….:)
But yes, I think portuguese men dress well, at least in the city centre I see a lot of them well dressed, caring about style.

Can you mention two places you like most here in Porto?

The beaches. Well they are not exactly in Porto, but I love the beaches from Gaia, like Madalena Beach or Valadares Beach….I love the beach.
Then I have to mention S. Bento train Station – it is impressive and beautiful. And that’s Portugal in it – the tiles and the architecture…

What do you miss the most here?

My friends, of course, and a place to socialise outside the dancing scene. I still miss that comfort, and sometimes it is hard….
