Localizado na beleza indiscutível do Minho, mais concretamente em Ponte de Lima, a mais antiga vila de Portugal, é um pequeno hotel de luxo inserido na cadeia dos Small Luxury Hotels.
Um local de excelência, com Spa, uma Oficina do Vinho e duas Tendas deLuxe no exterior (o chamado Glamping!) que eu aconselho vivamente a visitar! /

There are such beautiful places around Portugal, and Carmo’s Boutique Hotel is a good example of that.
It is located inside the undenied beauty of the Minho region, more precisely in Ponte de Lima  – the oldest village in Portugal – and it is a small luxury hotel belonging to the Small Luxury Hotels chain.
A place of excellency, with a Spa, a Wine House and two outside Deluxe Tents (the so called Glamping!)  that I really recommend you to visit!

O Carmo’s Boutique Hotel é um pequeno hotel de luxo, com um conceito muito familiar, gerido por mãe e filha que compartilham com paixão a tradição e a modernidade de se viver naquela zona de Portugal.
O que se pretende é que os hóspedes desfrutem de experiências únicas, enquadradas num ambiente acolhedor e confortável, e que qualquer pessoa se sinta como se estivesse em casa.

O cenário envolvente é idílico,  (o verdejante Minho, pois claro) , e se com o tempo bom (Verão e Primavera) o exterior é mais convidativo, confesso que este é um dos locais que quase diria que apetece mesmo é visitar no Inverno ou Outono, com frio, para que se possa desfrutar em pleno do conforto e da maravilha dos interiores.
A minha visita foi num dia de chuva de Dezembro para um almoço, e eu só me imaginava com tempo para ficar pela sala a ler um bom livro, com um bom copo de vinho e a ver as pingas de chuva lá fora… 🙂

A Small Luxury Hotel in the beautiful North of Portugal

Carmo’s Boutique Hotel is a small luxury hotel, with a familiar concept, and run by mother and daughter who both share with passion the tradition and modernity of living in that area.
The intention is that guests seize unique experiences, in a cosy and comfortable environment, and that everyone can feel as if they are at home.

The outside scenery is idyllic, (the green Minho, of course), and if with good weather (Spring and Summer) the exterior will be more appealing, I confess this is one of the places I would say it is better to stay in the winter or fall, the cold days, so that we can seize the marvellous place inside.
I visited the place in a rainy December day for a lunch, and I could only imagine myself having time to sit in the sofa by the window, reading a good book and drinking a glass of wine, whilst the raindrops outside….:)

O salão de estar é recheado de memórias de família, com fotografias e livros pessoais.
Sente-se no ar a partilha e proximidade com a família, mas também uma simbiose muito grande com a própria região, em que os vinhos expostos pretendem traduzir o que de melhor se produz na região e no país ( uma carta não muito extensa, mas de alta qualidade, com vinhos do Douro e do Dão, mas onde o hóspede também pode encontrar Champagne francês.

“Estamos em Portugal, e temos a consciência que os hóspedes portugueses que recebemos são pessoas que gostam de boa gastronomia e de bons vinhos, mas que vêm à procura de experiências diferentes. Apostamos essencialmente na qualidade, em detrimento de vinhos muito comerciais, por exemplo.”

The living room is filled with family memories, pictures and personal books.
You can feel in the air the proximity with the family, but also a perfect symbiosis with the region, wines are available and they intend to promote the best there is produced in the region and country (they do not have a wide list of wines, but excellent quality of wines, as from Douro region or Dão region) but where the client can also find french wine, like Champagne.

“We are in Portugal, and we have the conscience that the portuguese guests that come here are persons who like and praise gastronomy and good wines, and that they are looking for different experiences. We focus on top quality instead of very commercial wines, for example.

“We also receive a lot of foreign guests, and we know they also have a high quality and sophisticated lifestyle. And if they want french wine, we will have Champagne.”

Os Quartos

Sendo um pequeno hotel, O Carmo’s Boutique Hotel não tem muitos quartos, mas a novidade é que em 2017 inaugurou duas lindíssimas tendas Deluxe, num conceito cada vez mais popular, o Glamping. (conceito que eu ad-do-ro,! ver mais em baixo)

Escusado será dizer que os quartos têm o máximo dos confortos, e que nem dão vontade de sair de lá….

The Rooms

Being it a small hotel, Carmo’s Boutique Hotel does not have a great number of rooms, but the news is that  in 2017 it launched two beautiful Deluxe Tents, following a more and more popular trend, the Glamping ( a trend that I just Lo-ve!!, see below more about it!)

There is no need to say that the bedrooms are of the maximum comfort, and you just do not want to go out of them…

Mas então o que é o Glamping?
Glamping é nada mais nada menos do que a palavra e conceito glamoroso encontrado para quem gosta de dormir perto da natureza mas com a possibilidade de o fazer em formato de luxo.
Ou seja, é um campismo luxuoso, que pode variar entre dormir em tendas mais ou menos sofisticadas, até este exemplo de quase pequenas casas como são as do Carmo’s Boutique Hotel.

Eu que sou fã da natureza, sou a verdadeira apaixonada por Glamping.
Não acham romântico??? 🙂

So what is this about the Glamping?
Glamping is nothing more than the word and glamourous concept found for those people who like to sleep close to nature, but having the possibility to do it in a luxurious way.
In other words, it is the luxurious way of camping, where  the tents can be more or less sophisticated, or even looking like small houses like these ones from Carmo’s Boutique Hotel.

As I am a passionate for nature, I am really a fan of Glamping.
Isn’t it soo romantic??? 🙂

A antiga adega da casa foi transformada numa simpática e acolhedora Oficina do Vinho.
Foi aliás especialmente para conhecer este novo projeto inserido no Hotel que fui convidada para ir ao Carmo’s Boutique Hotel.

Uma Oficina de Vinhos onde como o nome indica reinarão os eventos ligados a provas de vinho e pequenas degustações, com uma cozinha que não pretende ser gourmet, mas sim uma cozinha típica com produtos portugueses e com muita qualidade, ressalvando os vinhos da zona, sendo o espaço exactamente um embaixador de vinhos de terroir portugueses.

Como referi, a minha visita foi para ficar a conhecer este novo projeto, onde tive a oportunidade de almoçar (com uma opção vegetariana cozinhada especialmente para mim, obrigada!) e de provar excelentes vinhos, entre os quais alguns de produção própria.

The Wine House

The old house wine place was recently transformed into a nice and cosy Wine House.
It was exactly to the launch of this new project that I was invited to Carmo’s Boutique Hotel.

The Wine House will host wine tasting events and small lunch and dinners, where the intention is not to have a gourmet cuisine, but instead a typical portuguese cuisine, though tasteful and of high quality. Portuguese food and wines are of course privileged, being the place an ambassador for portuguese terroir wines.

As referred, I was there to know this new project, and had a lunch (with special vegetarian option cooked just for me, thank you! ) and tasted some wines, some of them of self production.

“Sempre viajei muito e conheci muitos locais maravilhosos.
Com o bichinho das viagens fui interiorizando a ideia de que gostaria de ter uma coisa minha, capaz de proporcionar aos hóspedes exatamente o que eu sabia que gostava ou ambicionava vivenciar nesses locais por onde passava.

“A grande inspiração trouxe-a da Provence, e decidi que queria o meu espaço aqui no Minho, perto do Porto, mas também perto de tantos outros locais maravilhosos.

Eu e a minha filha não tínhamos experiência na área do turismo, mas fomo-la ganhando. E nunca nos podemos acomodar, nem parar de aprender.
Sabemos que o Porto está num bom momento de turismo, e quanto melhor o Porto estiver, melhor será para nós e para todos os que estão à volta.
