segundo consta, pode mesmo ser considerada uma das mais antigas papelarias do mundo…!
a papelaria, que continua ainda na mesma família ao longo de várias gerações, foi alvo de remodelação e renovação, tendo, no seu edifício-sede passado a instalar-se um hotel de 4 estrelas, o AS 1829 Hotel – ver o meu recente post sobre o Hotel aqui, e a papelaria passou a integrar o espaço do Hotel.

welcome to Araújo&Sobrinho, well-known stationer from Porto, and founded in 1829.
as it is said, it can be considered one of the oldest stationers of the world…!
the stationer, still belonging to the same family for some generations, has been remodelled and renovated, though, and , in their ancient headquarters there is now a 4 star hotel – the AS 1829 Hotel – see my recent post on the hotel here – and the stationer is now inside the Hotel.

apesar de continuar a ser uma papelaria referência para a área da escrita, design e das belas artes, muitos dos produtos que inicialmente eram comercializados na loja foram deixando de fazer sentido nos dias de hoje, pelo que a diversificação foi o caminho óbvio.
agora, facilmente encontra várias marcas portuguesas e produtos de autor, como artigos de joalharia, os sabonetes da Castelbel, chocolates da Chocolataria Equador, óculos Bushwick, entre outros….tudo artigos que atraem a atenção de quem entra no hall do hotel e se passeia pela loja.

despite keeping being a reference in the area of design and fine arts, a lot of the old products are no longer in use, so they had to diversify.
now you can find there portuguese brands and products by national authors, like jewellery, the Castelbel soaps, chocolates from Chocolataria Equador, sunglasses from Bushwick….all products that catch the attention of everyone passing the hall of the hotel.
